Nascida em Detroit, Michigan, Estados Unidos, em 1950, Suzi Quatro foi a primeira baixista a se tornar uma grande rock star.
Cantora, compositora e multi-instrumentista, na minha opinião, é a precursora do TOTAL EMPODERAMENTO FEMININO no rock and roll.
É reconhecida e reverenciada por nada mais nada menos que Joan Jett, Cherie Currie (Runaways), Debbie Harry (Blondie), Donita Sparks (L7) entre outras mulheres, lendas do rock and roll.
Primeira mulher a liderar uma banda – cantando, compondo e tocando seu baixo, em 1973 Suzy Quatro começou a emplacar seus hits.
Músicas como Can The Can, 48 Crash, Daytona Demon e Devil Gate Drive conquistaram multidões, tornaram-se inesquecíveis, alcançando o topo das paradas de sucesso.

Influenciada por Elvis Presley e os beatniks, Suzi marcou seu visual por seu SHAG CUT HAIR, macacão de couro, jeans e PLATAFORM BOOTS.
A influência dos beatniks está presente na sua atitude, personalidade, na ideia de movimento.
Quando jovem, sua mãe perguntou: “Suzy, para onde você está correndo?” Ela respondeu. “Não sei. Mas eu estou correndo“.
Sua coragem e determinação eram evidentes em suas performances. Até então, existiam mulheres no rock, como Grace Slick, do Jefferson Airplane, mas Suzi foi a primeira musicista a ser levada a sério realmente, e fazer sua própria música, nos seus próprios termos – e não estava preocupada com gênero, como ela mesmo diz: “quando vi Elvis pela primeira vez aos 5 anos, decidi que queria ser ele, e não me ocorreu que ele era um cara.”
Hoje, ela segue em plena atividade – em uma longeva carreira, que teve início em 1964.

Com estréia agendada para 11 de outubro de 2020 no Reino Unido, o filme “SUZI Q” mostrará todo pioneirismo e apresentará sua singularidade para as novas gerações. Afinal, como ela mesmo diz: “há apenas uma SUZI QUATRO“.
